According to a report published Thursday afternoon, one of the top available playmakers in the transfer portal is hearing from Indiana.
Dushawn London of 247Sports reported that IU has been in contact with USC transfer guard Desmond Claude.
The 6-foot-5 guard entered the transfer portal on April 22. A native of New Haven, Connecticut, Claude has one season of eligibility remaining.
London also reported that BYU, Ole Miss, Florida, Virginia and Gonzaga have contacted Claude since he entered the transfer portal. Joe Tipton of On3.com reported Thursday that Claude and Florida have mutual interest.
Claude, who played his first two seasons at Xavier, averaged 15.8 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds last season for the Trojans. He was named All-Big Ten honorable mention by the media. USC finished 17-18 overall and 7-13 in the conference.
He shot 48.2 percent from the field, 30.7 percent on 3s and 76.4 percent from the free-throw line.
In Big Ten play, he had the second-highest usage rate in the conference at 30.6 percent. His assist rate of 26.3 percent ranked ninth in the league and his free throw rate (FTA/FGA) of 49.5 percent also ranked ninth.
Over 102 career games at Xavier and USC, including 67 starts, Claude has averaged 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 28.9 minutes per game.
