Indiana’s Lexus Bargesser to enter the transfer portal
Indiana junior guard Lexus Bargesser will enter the transfer portal, according to her Instagram account.
A native of Grass Lake, Michigan, Bargesser appeared in 90 games over three seasons for the Hoosiers, making nine starts.
A defensive stopper and ball handler, the 5-foot-9 Bargesser was a backup point guard under Teri Moren and was known for her athleticism.
“I would like to announce that I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Bargesser wrote on her Instagram account. I would first like to extend my gratitude to the Indiana women’s basketball program. They gave me an opportunity to work and play for three years at their university. The fans and supporters of this program have truly held my heart for the last 3 years. They came to every game and brought so much energy. The atmosphere they created at assembly hall, night in and night out, is something so unique and powerful and I will never forget. I cannot thank the faithful Hoosier fans enough.
“With that being said, I look forward as God guides me through this next chapter. I am excited for a new opportunity to grow and play the game I love.”
As a freshman in the 2022-23 season, Bargesser played in 29 games and averaged 2.1 points and one rebound in 7.8 minutes per game. She had eight points, six rebounds and two assists in a 67-50 win against Butler on December 21, 2022 in Bloomington.
Her role expanded as a sophomore and she started nine of IU’s 32 games. Bargesser averaged career-highs of 4.3 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game. She stuffed the stat sheet in a 95-62 blowout win against Purdue on February 11, 2024, with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots in 34 minutes.
Bargesser missed the first four games of the 2024-25 season with an injury but returned for IU’s opener in the Battle 4 Atlantis against Columbia University. Her minutes, however, were down from her sophomore season.
The Michigan native averaged 3.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 17.2 minutes per game.
She’s a career 45.7 percent shooter from the field and owns a 61 percent mark from the free-throw line.
Bargesser has one season of eligibility remaining.
