Parker Stewart staying at Indiana

Parker Stewart, who transferred to Indiana last December, but recently entered the NCAA transfer portal, announced Wednesday that he is staying in Bloomington.

News broke last Wednesday that Stewart had entered the transfer portal. But with news on Wednesday that Kenya Hunter is staying in Bloomington following the hiring of Mike Woodson, Stewart is now back in the fold and will be a part of the 2021-22 roster for the Hoosiers.

Stewart was one of six Indiana players who chose to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season.

The four players remaining in the portal who have not declared their intentions for next season are Khristian Lander, Armaan Franklin, Race Thompson and Jordan Geronimo. Al Durham Jr. announced Tuesday that he was transferring to Providence.

The 6-foot-5 Stewart previously played for both Pittsburgh and U-T Martin and is a career 36.3 percent 3-point shooter. He did not play in any games for Indiana last season.

At UT-Martin, Stewart was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team. He averaged 19.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and shot 34 percent from 3-point range.

The 22-year old began his career at Pittsburgh where he averaged 9.1 points per game as a freshman. He shot 38 percent on 3-pointers and 80 percent from the free throw line.
