Film Session: Maryland
Later in the first half, Al Durham enters to De’Ron Davis. Ricky Lindo Jr. moves off Jackson-Davis to bring more coverage:
As Davis backs up and surveys the scene, Lindo Jr. remains in the paint near the basket. Jackson-Davis takes this opportunity to cut into the paint in an advantageous spot to receive the ball:
As Jackson-Davis keeps coming, Aaaron Wiggins has to put a body on him. That leaves the weak side defense in a pickle. Serrel Smith Jr. is on the right low block and he’s now got to keep an eye on both Devonte Green and Jerome Hunter:
Davis throws a pass. It’s a smart one. It’s on the trajectory of Jackson-Davis’ movement, but it’s actually destined for Hunter on the right wing:
As Hunter catches, Smith Jr. has a lot of ground to make up on the close out:
Hunter gets the shot up as Smith Jr.’s closeout isn’t near Hunter. The triple falls to pull the Hoosiers within five points:
Nice work from Davis here, using the attention both he and Jackson-Davis were receiving to find Hunter in space and rhythm for the shot.
