Now down 9-0, Phinisee looks inside for Brunk, but Shaq Carter moves around to front him:

So Phinisee comes left as Trayce Jackson-Davis sets a ball screen for him. But Jackson-Davis misses getting any contact on McConnell by a wide margin:

As Phinisee continues left, Ron Harper Jr. has switched onto him as McConnell recovers over to Jackson-Davis:

Here’s where things get a little weird. McConnell is now fully committed to Jackson-Davis. But Harper Jr. has completely left Phinisee and has moved down to front Brunk, leaving Phinisee wide open:

Phinisee takes the shot. But like so many of Indiana’s wide open ones on Wednesday night, it misses:

A little tough to tell here if Harper Jr. got mixed up as he was trying to recover back to Jackson-Davis — or he really was doubling Brunk — but the fact remains: Rutgers gave an Indiana player a wide open 3-pointer it couldn’t knock down.
