Film Session: Iowa

With Iowa in its zone, the Hoosiers pass the ball around the perimeter for much of the shot clock. With seven seconds left, Fitzner sets a ball screen for Phinisee:

This allows Phinisee to drive into the middle of the zone and he’s got four Iowa defenders around him:

Phinisee draws more attention as he gets up into the air. But he turns back and passes to Al Durham at the top of the key:

Jordan Bohannon closes out on Durham, so he decides to swing the ball over to Fitzner:

Fitzer rises and hits, having plenty of space to do so:

While Indiana usually goes about getting an advantage against Iowa’s zone by passing to a big in the middle, Phinisee shows here a drive into the middle can be just as effective.
