Film Session: Notre Dame
Here’s another look at Indiana’s adjustments inside the zone. With the game tied at 71, we’re now seeing Zeisloft come over from the weak side of the zone to front Colson. He doesn’t get the ball initially because of it:
With 12 seconds left on the shot clock — not the 20 or so we saw in the first two plays Notre Dame scored on above — Jackson has to drive in and work up top over Ferrell to finally deliver Colson the ball:
Both Ferrell and Bielfeldt have a body on him:
He makes a solid spin move to get some space, but it doesn’t drop:
Yes, Colson ended up still getting a shot in the painted area. But Zeisloft’s initial front made it harder for Notre Dame to get him the ball where’d he’d been getting it. This led to a tougher area for him to start in and Indiana threw bodies at him from there.
