Film Session: Passing in the halfcourt

With Northwestern now in a zone and Indiana clinging to a four-point lead with just over two minutes to go, Ferrell passes to Will Sheehey and comes through the lane with Kale Abrahmason trailing. Sheehey makes the pass back up top to Stanford Robinson:
Robinson passes to Vonleh:
Crawford moves up to cover Vonleh and this is when the zone starts to unravel a bit. Both Williams and Ferrell are now on the left side with Vonleh:
Abramhamson is still giving Ferrell some attention, but as Vonleh opts to make a move and come into the lane, the Wildcats all start looking his way. This allows Williams to slip behind the zone and Vonleh looks to thread the pass through:
The pass hit Williams’ hands:
And he curls around to the other side of the rim past Olah for the score to put Indiana up six:
Vonleh’s assist rate has been one area where he could stand some improvement, but he played the role of facilitator here well on a crucial possession.
