III. Success in the halfcourt
On an inbounds play off the left sideline, Hanner Mosquera-Perea comes up to set a ball screen for Ferrell. But Ferrell opts to crossover and hit the open space on the left wing:
Ferrell attracts the Cougar defense in the middle and this frees both Jeremy Hollowell and Sheehey on the baseline. Freshman Troy Williams also has space on the right wing:
Maybe last year, if it’s Jordan Hulls on the right wing, Ferrell opts for that pass. But here, in the present season, Ferrell lobs the ball at the rim for Sheehey:
Sheehey jumps and snags the ball:
He opts to land and go up to the cup on the opposite side, scoring through contact on his way to a three-point play:
Nothing overly complex here: It’s Ferrell breaking down the D and making the right pass for the score.
